Thierry CHARLET, Production Manager, and Bertrand DURAND, Crop Monitoring Manager, answer our questions:
How did you come to use the Horto Tandem? What is your objective?
We wanted to find a solution to the poor recovery of our lavender plants, which we repot at the beginning of Autumn. We grow almost 40,000 lavenders a year. The idea was to obtain better rooting conditions for sensitive varieties. These lead to sanitary problems in cultivation: difficulty in monitoring watering, development of soil-borne diseases and pathogenic fungi....
What approach?
We chose to try out TANDEM HORTO because it was able to respond to several of the problems we were encountering: encouraging the difficult rooting of certain varieties and combating substrate pathogens, as well as being a biostimulation product. We thought it would be interesting to try out a solution that was as harmless as possible for the environment and nursery workers. We were advised to incorporate it at a rate of 3kg/m3 into our potting soil.
What are the results?
In the two years we've been testing this product, we've seen a clear reduction in loss rates on our lavenders, particularly on sensitive varieties with difficult rooting, which is a big step forward for us. We're also seeing better development of the aerial mass on less sensitive lavender varieties. As a result, we're getting earlier lots for sale.
